And by the Pentagons own admission they can not account for over 3 Trillion dollars missing since the late 90's...Rumsfeld admitted this the day before 9-11 and it has only gotten worse since then... 2/15/15
Yep, pretty gross (and that's from a dude that's a beneficiary of that budget). However, if our budget were smaller, then our European, Korean & Japanese allies would have to increase theirs dramatically (which I fully support!). They have neglected their defense budgets for decades, knowing that the US will defend them. Kinda amusing to think of all the people that want the US to have European-style social programs, but can't do the math to figure out that if Europe, with their minuscule defense budgets, can't afford those program then how would the US, with its monster defense budget, possibly afford them? 2/15/15
