Funny you should mention metals.
Gold and platinum are worth considering.
Yes, gold has become some sort of household reality TV conversation topic by trading standards. So has silver. It's a shame that the publicity of gold doesn't lead more people to be curious enough to learn something about commodities, especially investment metals. I wish my high school had a mandatory class on the topic.
It's one of those "if only people spent as much time making their investment purchases as they did on materialistic purchases like a TV or a high capacity magazine for their assault rifle."
Anyway, I'm trading gold and platinum (and silver and palladium, to some smaller extent) to the long side, selling off the high of the channel, buying on the low side. It's worked remarkably well for a couple of years now despite the media making it look like gold is at one minute "gotta have it" and the next "Elvis has left the building." What a scam. : ) 8/12/12
