Over the past several weeks we have seen the S&P 500 (SPY) and Dow (DIA) push lower while the higher beta indexes Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) and Russell 2000 (IWM).
As you can see in the table below both ETFs are now in a short-term overbought state.

Today I just finished watching the documentary Queen of Versailles (which some in the movie pronounce Ver-sass) which is about David Siegel, a rich time-sharing mogul, and his comically-large-breasted, much-younger wife, Jackie Siegel, and how they got caught up in the financial crisis of 2008. Out of the clear blue sky this morning, precious metals broke beneath the range they’ve been lingering in for the past couple of weeks. One would assume that the many new trllions in fiat and the partial-closure of the U.S. Government would give gold and silver something to cheer about. Evidently not. (more…)
