It’s a tradition of mine to read the text of the Declaration of Independence every 4th of July. Here it is below, with a few bits boldfaced by me:

In Congress, July 4, 1776

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Strolling Philly

Again, Happy Independence Day, Slopers. I am in Philadelphia for a while, and this morning, as I am wont to do, I strolled around early in the morning on a quest for a (medium-sweet) chai. I’ll say this about Philadelphia: they love their dogs. That’s apparent. So thumbs up for that. Here are a few photos from this morning. First, appropriately enough, here is the Second Bank of the United States (precursor to our Federal Reserve).
