Yep! People getting used to a low realized volatility and start to think that it's a normal state but it's NOT (especially when you look @ liquidity) 

The wake up call should be brutal! 

Interestingly enough, the last 1% drop was the only day till now since the new SIP implementation one week prior to this "1% or more drop day" 

1987 here we go again???

That is a new data feed for nasdaq listed stocks implemented last october 
I'm not an expert but said @ that time that I think that makes liquidity more accessible for biggest players and would have the same effect than a computer when you increase his bandwith (same thing than before but more raid) 2/3/17
