There was not a single similar signal from 2000 through 2007. One happened right before the stock market crash of 2008 which doesn't seem the fit the current environment. The other was Apr 27, 2010 just a week or so before the Flash Crash. However, the rest were only in the past four years where they've generally marked bottoms except for this past Aug 20, 2015 on the first major breakdown day of last summer's plunge. 6/18/16
