I tried to find a reference, but couldn't find right now, a comment by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, where he did a bit that blended speeches from Bush with speeches Obama was giving within literally days of inauguration. The two were indistinguishable and often they were speaking complete sentences and deceptive phrases verbatim.
I have to admit, I went into "Hope and Change" not realizing it meant "hopeless chump change."
Obama did not follow through on his promises, nor will the next guy.
It's a ludicrous anachronism to have a country -- any country, large or small -- dictated over by a single "leader."
Democracy is a viable system, but having a single person at the top of the power pyramid does not work. Power corrupts.
Why do people agree to this recurring "popularity contest" that invariably leads to disappointment and almost invariably the "bum" gets kicked out in disgrace?
When was the last election in US political history where the incumbent President was highly regarded at the end of a term by a thankful nation and those vying to carry the torch forward promised to continue the good work and finish the plans already under way?
The USA is a people intent upon voting the same way every four years and expecting a different future. 8/18/12
