If you’re reading this logic dictates all the Mayan apocalyptic prognosticators for what ever their reasoning – are proven wrong. The CYA  (cover their butts) reasoning they’ll use to justify why will make politicians sit back stunned thinking: “Man, get him/her on my staff. That’s genius!”

This should stand alone as a reminder to all of us that no one – and I mean no one – knows what tomorrow will bring. Life is a game of chance. Every single part of it has no guarantee. We might make the best of plans, but life is littered with examples of the best laid plans going bad. All you can do – is do your best. Nothing more.

Sometimes the chips have a life of their own. However you should view the game of life as just that – a game. A serious game, but none the less – the greatest game available ever to be played. All life asks is that you “suit up” nothing more.

There are people currently waking up after spending all their wealth on prepping only to find solace in a muse of: “Well, at least I’m ready for being broke.” There are people who spent the same partying “Vegas style” only to find that they weren’t pulling one over on the casino with a worthless deed to their home. Because the home is still there – but now the casino owns the keys.

A lot of these people partied or prepped the same way in 1999 as Y2K clicked down on the clock I’ll wager. You’ll find a vast majority of people do the same things over, and over, and over again. Try to breathe caution into their bubbles, and you might as well be talking to the wall. The cure for most headaches isn’t a stronger aspirin. Actually, for most the greatest remedy is to just stop banging ones head. Works like a miracle every time.( More of us should try it.) There’s nothing wrong with preparedness or enjoying a night on the town. It’s the extreme where the abandonment of critical thinking gets most into trouble.

That doesn’t mean all is lost for them, or for anyone else. It’s what you do after that makes the all the difference. It’s what you learn – then apply. That’s life, and now since life has proved empirically that it’s moving forward, it would only be the fools that don’t take their cue from it.

For all of us that made mistakes prior to today we should dust ourselves off, leave all baggage we’ve ever carried right where it sits, and walk away never looking back. Tomorrow is here – it’s a new day – a new year – a new life now. We should treat it as such. If we don’t learn or take our cues and lessons from the greatest teacher of all – life. Then we only prove we don’t want to listen or change.

You don’t answer to me or anyone else. It’s that person in the mirror you need to address. What are you going to tell him or her today? That should be your greatest gift to yourself today.

Open yourself up to that reflection honestly, and make your commitments. Express your hopes and dreams.  What actions you’re going to take as to accomplish them. What foolish things or habits you’re going to give up as to help move that process along. Regardless of what you might think – that person on the other side is your greatest ally. Don’t squander those interactions. We only get so many.

Everyone that’s ever been through tragedy, lost loved ones, lost it all financially, and far too many other scenarios I could say in one day always reflect expressing: “If I only had just one more day/ or just one more chance – I would say/ or do this.

Well, now you have that chance. The world didn’t end as it was predicted or warned by scholars, media, prognosticators, or the man down the block holding that sign with the crazy eye-ball. Nope – we get to live and decide where we go from here. But where we go is life’s greatest blessing. For she allows us to decide – however she demands that we do.

So in this light of reflection, making plans, moving forward I offer you this from me as to show I practice what I preach.

Today I released my first book. I launched it specifically on this date as to prove I was making plans myself for if the end of the world was not at hand – well then I would already be moving. (Those that follow my blog already know this.)

One last thing: I wish to thank every one of you that has ever read my work. heard me speak, attended a workshop, or any other interaction. It’s with pure respect and gratefulness from the bottom of my heart. And yes, that extends to all that disagree with me also. Because you are the ones that make me prove my thinking stands on solid ground, or makes me reconsider and find I might have not been as “correct” as I first thought and need to question more. After all – that is how we learn. Life shows us that.
