Violet, I live in Middlesex, although I have my water supplied by a competitor to MSEX. 
IMO there's a lot of issues with water companies here. 
Two big ones: 
1) my water bill probably shows the lowest increase of any utility I have. So no pricing power. 
2) The growth days of NJ are long over. No big developments have been built here sine the early 2000s. people are moving out, not in. And housing is too expensive for young people to buy and maintain. 6/20/22

Considering water shortage as a serious concern, one would think the water companies would be doing okay. 6/20/22
