Carnot cycle is a derivative of thermodynamics; it's pretty hard to avoid those inherent losses. And they hit you at both ends, generation and consumption.

It's d-hard to get better than 40% efficiency in a truck engine. You have to nail the timing perfectly to even do that well. 6/11/21
