It's the start of the calendar month. That means I do the necessary preparation for the coming month of trades. I usually do this preparation the before the 1st of the month, but there's no fixed deadline, it's just a matter of having the trades queued up with known entry-exit dates. 
It also gives a consistent and reliable set of facts (not opinion) on general market conditions with statistics for stocks and commodities.
