The Germans were certainly efficient killers. Spain had many civilian deaths at the hands Hitler's Luftwaffe. Franco paid Hitler to bomb civilian populations. Ironically, I would not exist had he not. My Mom and her sister were in Barcelona when Hitler bombed the city to evoke terror. They were dancing with friends that night and saw their dismembered bodies in the streets the next morning. They walked up the coast to France where they took a boat to Spanish Morocco. She met my Dad, who was stationed there after WW2, in Casablanca and they were married in Tangier. 10/26/18
