I’ll say only this: I’ve been online since 1981 (longer than some of you have even lived), and I understand the nature of online interactions very deeply. My belief is that the horrendous tug-of-war going on in the market is fraying nerves and causing fistfights. I appreciate Iggy’s insistence on decent and civil discourse within the hallowed halls of the Slope of Hope:
Dear Asshole,
You know who you are, you know you’re being a asshole, yet you continue doing it. I’m here to say I’m bored with it and am going to start doing something about it.
Sadly, I’m not speaking to just one person, I’m speaking to many assholes that seem to be growing in number lately and even sadder, from people I never thought would become assholes.
STOP with the personal attacks! That’s the bottom line. There is an IGNORE feature within the comment system, USE IT!
I’m not looking for a love fest or anything close to that. Slope is a community of traders and investors, from those trading off the 1-minute chart to those trading off a weekly or monthly chart. What I am looking for is respectful comments and banter. Humor is always welcome and appreciated by many. Off topic comments are also welcome, especially when the markets are putting people to sleep. Heated debates are VERY welcome as long as they’re done respectfully.
Share your trading thoughts and the results will speak for themselves. Sloper’s know who has their finger on the pulse of the market and anything over 60% accuracy is damn good. Nobody hits 90-100% so quit picking on people when they’re wrong. We have an amazing array of contributors on Slope, those that do header posts and those that share their thoughts in the comment section on a regular basis.
Here’s the deal, while MarketSniper is able to take out a target with a single shot and only uses his super power on rare occasion, I’m using an 1800’s rifle and there is sometimes collateral damage. I’m not going to apologize for taking out veteran Slopers if they can’t play well with others any longer. If I take you out, feel free to reach out to TK and plead your case. Be assured he’ll have an email from me already with a screenshot showing why I de-assholed you and you can explain why you think your account should be reactivated.
I know the difference between sarcastic humor, friendly jabs and assholeness and I always air on the side of giving the benefit of the doubt on the humor side if I’m not sure. We pick on each other, hell I’m the butt of MANY jokes and comments and that’s usually because I set myself up for it. I enjoy playing the court jester to keep people smiling and chuckling. But if you think I truly am a clown, you have sadly underestimated me and have not picked up on the underlying reality of who Iggy is.
I care a lot about TK, Slope and our ragtag community. It’s because I care that I wrote this and am going to start straightening the mess up that tends to happen when you have a party and things start to get a bit out of control.
Have fun folks. Share trading ideas. Share charts. Share your personal accomplishments and good news. Share your not so good news if you seek the support and compassion of friends. But do not let Slope turn into what many blogs and comment sections on other sites have turned into, pure evil and hate.
