I’ve mentioned my fondness for the auto sector recently. Oddly for me, this is based more on something I read than something I saw in a chart, because about a month ago I read a very compelling piece about how the auto makers had gone completely over the top “stuffing” sales throughout the world, relying heavily on subprime loans to do so. It made intuitive sense to me that sales would eventually suffer, since they were basically pulling the same thing home builders were in 2004-2007. Anyway, it’s starting to show with General Motors…..

Good morning, everyone. I’m pleased to see gold (precious metals being the only sector whose bullishness I applaud) is continuing to march higher at a steady pace.

A vote for gold is a vote against central banking insanity, so you can figure out which column I’m going to place my checkmark.

The big news today doesn’t happen until tonight, when Krazy Kuroda does he latest thing. The guy has been all thumbs lately, so I’m actually kind of looking forward to it. A tumble in the USD/JPY would help things out on my end, certainly.

Time to walk the canines and make sure Palo Alto remains in good working order.

Greetings from Whole Foods, where I’ve dispatched my son to deal with the shopping, as he has decided to cook dinner for the family tonight. Whole Foods apparently hasn’t spent any of their gigantic profits on their network, since it feels like the entire store is dangling off a shared 2400 baud modem. All the same, I take opportunities to do posts when I can, thus I am banging out this final post of the day.

As an aside, I’ll mention no regret at not being able to watch every moment of the Democratic Convention. Lord in heaven almighty, the Jerry Lewis Telethon was more entertaining. Not only that, but there’s only so much pandering at Hillary-worshiping I can stomach. I love watching politics, but seriously, about five minutes is about all I can take before causing stomach upset.
