I don’t spent a lot of time thinking about Barbie dolls, but this tumbled into my inbox:
Judging from the infographic, one would assume that Mattel (MAT) is absolutely printing money, but the stock price says otherwise. Indeed, if you had the foresight to have bought Mattel a full QUARTER CENTURY ago, you would be basking in the capital-gains glow of 0%. That’s right. No gains at all during one of the most shameless, fake, monstrous bull markets in the history of the planet.
Relatedly, Mattel got substantial press a few days ago by announcing their first Barbie girl with Down’s syndrome (I am not making this up). It is pictured below. And if you think I’m going to write even one more word about this topic, you are mistaken. I’m going to go play with my dolls now.
