There are three implausible items I would like to mention which are all related.
Item #1: in spite of thousands of people coming through here every week, I’ve only received one email to tone down the politics and return to a Slope free from the bashing of you-know-you.
Item #2: it sometimes only takes one email to really get my attention, particularly when it’s thoughtfully written by a person whose opinion I respect.
Item #3: I’ve decided to do something about this immediately.
Beginning this very moment, I’m not offering my political opinions for the next 200 days.
Why that amount of time?
Because that puts us through Halloween, after which we will be in the throes of one of the most consequential elections of our lifetimes, and I will not foreclose myself from chiming in about it starting November 1st.
Until then, though, no more administration-bashing from me. No more snarky comments. No more raging. No more shaking my fist at the universe about…………that man.
I’ll certainly share information and articles, but without any color commentary on my part. Nor will I be trying to shush other people who want to voice their own opinions, whatever they may be. I don’t have the interest or the energy in trying to censor people. Perhaps my own example will turn down the temperature.
You have my pledge that for the next 200 days, I’m going full-on neutral on the entire topic, both in my posts as well as my comments. Any information offered will be just that: neutral information.
And you can hold me to that.
