Feh. Well, for the 127th day in a row, what looked like a good hard tumble has been extinguished overnight. Specifically, the train wreck of INTC, KLAC, and AMAT seemed to spelled doom for QQQ and SMH, but the doominess has been largely wiped clean. Here is NQ, triple digits higher than its low just a few hours ago.
Viewed over their entire common lifespan, the QQQ (NASDAQ 100) and SMH (semiconductor index) funds have, in the end, performed almost identically. You can see how badly semis lagged for a huge chunk of this chart (black lower than blue) but they have “caught up” admirably thanks to the likes of NVDA and AMD.
Another day, another lifetime high for NVDA. I’ve learned to stay at least 200 feet away from this beast. If you told someone ten years ago that this specialty maker of graphics cards was going to be a trillion-dollar company, they would have put you away.
Some unfamiliar names here. I wonder if the planes feature an extra hole?
