It’s heartening to see this dreadful airline, which charges you extra just for breathing the fetid cabin air, is heading for the toilet. The name is Spirit Airlines, and the oh-so-ironic ticker symbol is SAVE.

Even though I’ve written about the company before, I had sort of stopped thinking about Victoria’s Secret. That is, until this afternoon, when we saw this happen:


I have written about one of my favorite books, The Fourth Turning, many times here on Slope. I was surprised to learn that an updated volume, The Fourth Turning is Here, came out last year.
I bought it immediately, of course, because the original book is over a quarter century old, and I certainly wanted to read the latest thoughts from Mr. Neil Howe. He has moved the goalposts a bit, but I think that’s understandable.
In the 1997 book, his conjecture was that the Fourth Turning would be wrapping up around 2025, but now he thinks this period of crisis probably has a decade to go, or thereabouts.
