Back on April 14th, Slope had a human-generated error whose net result was that some folks got emails saying their account was cancelled, when in fact nothing of the sort had happened. Having hurled the aforementioned human off the Golden Gate Bridge, I have been having techno-PTSD ever since, but at least our problem had ZERO true impact and was due to human error.

Reading the fresh tale below, it sends chills down my spine about how serious things can get if you employ AI “help” in your operation:

A small business destroying its own database and code is simultaneously foolish and yet totally understandable. I seriously feel for this guy and his customers.

Suffice it to say that Slope code will continue to be generated by flesh and blood humans. A story like the one above should generate grave doubts amongst all the techno-optimists and AI-maximalists who think that this new gizmo is going to make the whole world nothing but rainbows and unicorn kisses.
