Today’s victory – – and it’s a rather Pyrrhic one so far – – was the breaking of the Russell’s intermediate-term trendline. The fact that the boys in D.C. frantically bid up the market within moments of this happening simply proves its import. The damage is done.
Looking at the four-hour bars, you can see plainly how this line keeps getting challenged, and the time span between each “hit” is getting shorter. Today’s fracturing of this line is encouraging, although it’s damned annoying to see the market rip higher For No Reason Whatsoever at day’s end.
