When I was in my teens, going to the mall was the thing to do. I was never into shopping, but since I had a girlfriend, we probably went to the mall at least once or twice a month. How times have changed! Department stores are dying. Costco and Sam’s Club? Let’s go there and buy a huge vat of mayonnaise!
One of my favorite songs is an homage to the mall, and you can tell how dated it is not only by its premise (all kids love to be at the mall) but some of the references (“$100 shoes” being very high end, as well as a mention of a store where they are selling pets).
