Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. Click on any category icon below to see posts tagged with that particular subject, or click on a word in the category cloud on the right side of the screen for more specific choices.

Slope is weeks away from its 20th birthday. Some months ago, I decided to also create a presence on Substack, which is be a very, very watered-down version of Slope. None of the tools at all, of course. Just some of the writing. Even with spartan efforts to contribute posts there, the growth in subscribers has been steady.

Only four days ago, I thought I was within hours, if not minutes, of losing Coda. For newer readers, that name refers to one of the seven dogs I’ve had in my adult life, and she’s particularly precious to me.
She is about twelve years old or so (we really don’t know, but let’s say plus or minus a year) and, due to a tumor near her heart, she isn’t going to be with us much longer. The past one hundred hours is a hundred hours I never thought I’d get, so I am grateful for them.

On Christmas Eve, we decided to take Coda out to see the decorations on Christmas Tree Lane, which is on Fulton here in Palo Alto. We knew it would be her last Christmas, so we wanted her to see the spectacle just one last time.

I will be occupied for a while with family matters.
