Pardon the mostly non-market related post. But it’s something I’ve wanted to put in writing for a long time. The Fed is at the controls of the inflation-making machinery in the US (as are global central banks in their own countries).
Inflation does not just appear, as if by some mystical financial mechanism. Inflation is produced with the ease of firing up the printing press. More dollars + finite assets = asset prices rising in those inflated dollars. Not rocket science.
(more…)Normally, on a Friday, I will spend the afternoon creating videos and posts for the weekend. Once the trading day is over, I have a few hours to crank out a ton of content – – usually a dozen posts or more – – so that I have a chance of actually not working too much over the weekend itself.
Creating it all in advance gives me a chance to relax.
Not so this time. In spite of having a ton to talk about what is suddenly a very interesting market, I had planned to drive us up to the mountains for the weekend. Thus, I have absolutely zero content for you right now on this beautiful Saturday morning, and I am duty-bound to start creating it. I’ll start with writing about an incident on the way up here.
(more…)After nine consecutive “up” weeks, and, at long last, one vicious Friday to bust that trend to prevent a tenth, I need to rest some. I just drove six hours to get up to the mountains, and I’m ready to relax. When I wake up, after I take my dogs out, I’ll start writing again. Until then……………
