Rubble? Not So Much

Much was made of the collapse of the Russian ruble when the west responded to the Ukrainian invasion. Our own President made the point repeatedly about how worthless the ruble had become. Well – – not so fast. Below is the USD/RUB chart, illustrating the dollar’s value relative to the ruble. Yes, for about a week, the ruble got absolutely demolished. But since then, it’s the dollar that looks like garbage!

Emerging Still Submerging

The emerging markets fund (symbol EEM) has been in its own, and virtually uninterrupted bear market, since it peaked February 16, 2021 (incredibly, more than 14 months ago; were only we so lucky in the U.S. to have stocks come to their senses like this!) It’s been an amazing progression, particularly given its relationship with its now-broken channel as well as its Fibonacci Retracements.

Under Starry Skies Above

I really, really dislike crowds. I’ve always been that way. Solitude is my preferred state of being, or just with a few people whom I really like, but the idea of being in a crowd (be it at a stadium, a crowded public space, or what-have-you) is really off-putting to me. Thus, I’d like to say a personal thanks to my fate when I recognize I don’t like anywhere within this small circle of Earth that contains over half of its entire population! (Although I am grateful for all the cuisine that comes from there).
