On my bookshelf, you will find a series of small books which are in The Portable Curmudgeon family. These are not recent purchases. In fact, I started getting them as they came to market way back in 1992. That was, by definition, when I was – – ya know – – younger.

Years earlier, back in my teens, one of my favorite books was Paul Fussell’s Class. Here is an image of Professor Fussell, which I think captures his temperament quite well:

I Didn’t Ask For This

Just over a week ago, I did a post called One Hundred Thousand in which I woefully recounted my crypto journey from a starting point of $80,000 up to $89,000, down to $79,000, up to $99,000, and then down to $91,000 again.

Well, it’s worse. And I’d like to talk about that, and I’d like to share why I have – – once again!! – – decided to step aside for the moment from crypto-land. Let’s start with this chart of Ethereum in recent days (I am typing this on late Friday night).

White Clouds. And Nothing Else.

Today I found out that Norm Macdonald died. I discovered it, as I often do, in the Slope comments section, and the news hit me very hard. It reminded me of when I learned George Carlin died. It was truly a JFK moment for me. I remember precisely where I was and what I was doing when I read the news.

I have written about Norm many times, and even a simple search of Slope will reveal many posts with him as the topic. I suspect the following clip will be widely shared, since it’s the equivalent of showing their Ed Sullivan appearance whenever the Beatles are discussed.
