When I was a kid, most movies that came out where rated G. Herbie the Lovebug, Freaky Friday, Tom Sawyer, and all that. Looks like this is another reality confined to the dustbin of history. Let’s face it, a movie for kids isn’t complete anymore without a good orgy scene.
Even though there are weeks left in 2024, we’re already seeing the “summing up the year” stuff come out. It’s just like Christmas – – every year, it starts earlier.
There are a couple of properties that characterize my life. One, I spend a huge amount of time alone (God help me), and two, I spend almost all of that alone time either reading or writing. One of the “reads” I enjoy most each day is Slope’s own Daily Digest, which gets shipped out to everyone who wants it at 2 p.m. PST every day of the year.
I’ve heard some of you haven’t been getting it, so we did some cleaning and fine-tuning of our email system last night, which should expand its reach. My hand to God, it’s impossible to believe that Zerohedge was once a critical, discerning, bearish publication. It is absolutely slathered, from top to bottom, with a combination of wild-eyed bullishness, unalloyed fan-boy-level Trump-worship, and disdain for any views other than Tyler’s. It’s getting close to the point where, after 15 years of daily reading, I’m just going to pretend it doesn’t exist. I’ve already stopped posting there. I’m kind of sick of it. Here’s a tiny sampling just from the past few hours.
As you might guess, I’m not exactly a fan of boxing matches. Still, everyone in the country was quite aware of the Tyson/Paul fight that was broadcast live on during the weekend. As you also know, Netflix was slammed by the media for not having the bandwidth to provide a reliable video to that many people watching at the same time.
