I saw this trailer about the insanity that took place with Gamestop and Roaring Kitty a couple of years ago. It looks like a waste of time, and way too vulgar, but it’s an interesting tidbit of pop culture detritus.
The Pathos of AMC
As we reflect on the absolute insane asylum that existed from March 2020 through November 2021, some ticker symbols are enshrined on the Mount Rushmore of lunacy. One of them is AMC, the stock representing the money-losing theatre chain that became, as did Gamestop, one of the great meme stocks of all time.
Shot in the Foot
Let me state two things at the outset: one, I’ve never been a David Portnoy fan (for a variety of reasons), but I’m definitely on his side with this incident, and two, I’ve certainly messed up as a small (very small!) business owner myself when I’ve said or written something out of emotion. The difference for me is that I usually realize it about three seconds later and try hard to make amends and restore the peace.
