AMD Success

It’s nice to see a trade work out. It’s nicer to know that paying subscribers were the ones who got it. And it’s nicest still when it works out almost immediately.

Just yesterday, I did this premium post in which I pointed out the nearly perfect gap-seal for AMD. I went on to say, “I am long January $175 puts. It also helps that the P/E ratio on this sucker is literally measured in the hundreds. This is preposterously overvalued.” Even though semiconductors were fairly strong all day, AMD was a notable exception.

Cooking with Pooh

The Chinese stock market has blasted higher by 40% in just a few trading sessions, thanks to the Communist Dictatorship, desperate to cling to power until the end of time, continuing to spray trillions of yuan all over the backs of Chinese “investors” who were growing weary of losing money. In the end, it’ll end in catastrophe, but so far, it is resulting in an unprecedented rally.

Hello, I’m Johnny Cash

Because, Walk the Line, right? Right? Sheesh. Let’s move on.

Anyway, the CPI came in right where they predicted for Y/Y and M/M, but the core CPI came in hot at 0.3 instead of 0.2. That’s all it took for folks to lose hope of a 50 bps cut in a week, and thus equities are red right now (although not by that much). The important part is that the resistance line I’ve been yammering on about endlessly held beautifully on the /ES:

Triple-Leveraged Victory Lap

Since this is the first weekend in a while I’ve felt absolutely terrific about the world of trading, I want to celebrate the call I made two Fridays ago, when I insanely suggested buying the triple-bearish-leveraged instrument SOXS. Truth to tell, one could have waited an entire week to get the exact same entry price, because the meat of the move was just on Tuesday and Friday, but all the same, it went up about 50% swiftly without ever having to take any heat during the holding period.
