Most of you are aware that the custom-made comments system in Slope of Hope has a virtual trading feature. In the comments stream, any of you can enter long or short positions so that, over the course of time, Slopers get a chance to show off their trading prowess.
When a person opens a position, it is automatically displayed within the comment stream. However, when a person closes a position, nothing is displayed. This is dumb; I’m really not sure what I was thinking. But I have corrected this.
Now, when you close a position, a comment is also automatically inserted showing the result of the trade as well as the cumulative winning and losing trades this particular user has entered.
I’ll emphasize that this system isn’t perfect; I have a feeling a few folks “game” the system to make themselves appear more marvelous than they really are, but on the whole, I think the system is a pretty decent way for people to share ideas and show if they’re any good or not. I think the above improvement at least helps the communication of trading ideas, since closing is every bit as important as opening!
