Perhaps you’ve heard of a road in California, worthy of its own freeway exit sign, known as Zzyzx. I actually have two quite anecdotes for you, proving that I have an anecdote for ANY topic.
The first one is that there was a movie produced a few years ago by this name. It started the ravishing Katherine Heigl and Tom Sizemore (whom you saw in Saving Private Ryan). Here’s the trailer:
The movie was released and grossed $30. Not $30 million. Thirty dollars. Thirty. It thus holds the esteemed honor of being the lowest-grossing commercial movie in human history. A movie grossed the same as the cost for a Bronze membership here on Slope.
Second, I used to work for a well-known trader back in the early 1990s who had a couple of kids. He told us that one day he passed by the aforementioned freeway exit and declared (I am paraphrasing here, to the best of my memory) “I’m going to name my next kid after that sign.” And he did.
Interesting choice.
