Driven to Distraction

I have not been my usual new-post-every-two-hours self this weekend. I have good reasons for not being so. First of all, there was this:

And second, there was this:

The first one is easy to explain. I was attending the Duke Meet fencing competition as they went against a bunch of other colleges (M.I.T, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, etc.) I’m pleased to report women’s foil came in First Place. Huzzah!

The second one is a little more complex. You see, after I got back to our home here in North Carolina after the fencing was done, this was waiting for me:

Considering that I am here approximately NEVER, I figured it was practically a miracle that they reached out to me. So obviously I drove right over to meet him.

Sadly, it didn’t work out. He is a gorgeous, gorgeous dog, but he’s absolutely scared to pieces. Despite my most soothing voice, lots of treats, and lots of encouragement, he wouldn’t get in the car with me. So instead of being here in a house with a big yard, he’s going to be in a crate in an empty apartment.

Perhaps I’ll try to have them drive him over tomorrow. Rolo Part 2 might still happen. Anyway, that’s where I’ve been.
