Slope of Hope Blog Posts
Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. Liquidity Trio
Let’s look at the latest from the Fed. Here we see the BTFP program, which shutters its doors in just a little more than a week. What a different a year has made, huh? The banks gobbled up hundreds of billions of dollars of free money, and they only stopped when the Fed FINALLY stopped paying them above-market interest rates (that is to say, free money). That’s why we’ve flat-lined for the past few weeks. Anyway, please note that the BTFP closure doesn’t mean they all pay their money back. It merely means they can’t ask for even-more-hundreds-of-billions anymore, at least until the next government creation.

So, this is a game of hot potato (if we can mix metaphors a moment), and I only intend to stand on this side of the room and watch with astonishment as people bid these things up into the ionosphere.

Stripe Stripped
One of the biggest unicorns in the universe, Stripe is an incredibly successful company. I’m a happy customer of theirs myself. I wanted to share this chart to illustrate, however, that private companies have ups and downs in their valuations as well, and certainly their employees could attest to that.
