Here’s an interesting view of where the heavy drinkers are in the country. Not surprisingly, Utah is the least (green side of the continuum) and Wisconsin has the most serious drinking culture.

When I started in this business, a company like Apple might warrant a P/E of 20, whereas a company like Smucker (you know, the jam maker) would probably have a P/E of 7. Well, in these dizzy times, Smucker (SJM) has an Apple-like P/E, and it seems to me that this stock is poised to be worth a lot less a year from now, based on the massive top I’ve tinted.

Following the Trump win, some very specific companies that were seen as aligned with mass deportations went roaring higher. One prosperous sector was private prisons, and the gains are still coming, most particularly with Geo Group (GEO):

Everyone’s favorite company, United Healthcare, will be announcing their earnings tomorrow morning. It’ll probably get more interest than normal, since UNH has, let’s just say, been in the news more lately than normal.
