The electric truck maker Rivian is a curious chart. Again and again, it forms a modest rounded bottom, rallies, and then sputters again. It looks like it’s close to yet another breakout. This seems to be one of those stocks which is “all smoke, no fire.”

The XOP ETF is in the throes of what I believe will ultimately be a gargantuan top. Short-term, I’ve got a stop-loss at the 136.25 level (I bought June puts yesterday).

The big ETF for precious metals miners, GDX, has a very interesting relationship with the red trendline shown below. For years it acted as resistance (red circles). Late in 2024, it reached escape velocity and broke above this powerful level, only to slip beneath it again recently.
