Speech Postmortem

By -

The POTUS has evidently stopped talking, and here were a few highlights, along with remarks by me:

*TRUMP: US INFLATION HAS BEEN DEFEATED – It’s lower, to be sure, but what people seem to miss is that the increased prices just……..stay high. It’s not like it reverts back to five years ago.
*TRUMP: STOCK MARKET DIP ‘PEANUTS’, STOCK MARKET WILL DOUBLE
– Uh-huh.
*TRUMP: SIGNED ORDER BANNING INSTITUTIONAL HOME BUYERS
– A rare time I support him, although I’m certain this is just mid-term pandering. Still: hurrah.
*TRUMP REITERATES ATTACK ON WINDMILLS
– At least he’s addressing the really big issues.
*TRUMP: TREMENDOUS RESPECT FOR PEOPLE OF GREENLAND, DENMARK
– Again: uh-huh.
*TRUMP: NATO, EUROPE DOESN’T APPRECIATE WORK THAT THE US DOES
– He sounds like me talking to free Slope accounts.
*TRUMP: NOW I’M ASKING FOR A PIECE OF ICE, A VERY SMALL ASK
– So can someone get the United States by pointing out they just want a piece of dirt?

Since he didn’t step up to the podium and declare nuclear war, the market is celebrating across the board. Volatility is collapsing to pre-weekend levels……..

Whereas equities are cheering.

This is our TACO moment. But I have a thought to share on this rally.

When business associates meet at a trade show, they drink and chatter and excitedly talk about the huge deals they’re going to do together. Then they get on their planes, go back to their offices in different states, and then forget the whole thing. The environment created their zeal, but once back home, it evaporates. Nothing has changed.

When a troubled couple goes to some kind of weekend encounter group, amidst all the positivity, new age music, and supportive therapists, they end the weekend absolutely determined to lead a charmed life together, free of strive and conflict. Yet when they return home, to the dirty dishes in the sink, the mess the kids made, and the forgotten appointments, it all comes flooding back. Nothing has changed.

So, too, will it be with the President. He’s in a glitzy place surrounded by world leaders, with all eyes on him, and he’s on his best behavior. Once he gets back into the snug confines of the White House with ghouls like Stephen Miller and sycophants like Karoline Leavitt in his ear, he’ll quickly morph back into the same person who on Saturday was making financial and military threats to our former allies. Nothing has changed.

Enjoy the rally. Enjoy the good feelings. Just wait until he gets back home.
