Well, it didn’t take long to pick up some valuable lessons from my little VR experiment this morning.
- These avatar-based social rooms are still in the hobbyist stage and are terribly clunky and confusing;
- The anonymity of these places means the 12-year-olds (mentally, at least) show up;
- It’s not surprising that, in my exploration of the various products available out there, in spite of hundreds of millions in funding, I’ve yet to find a room with more than two or three people in it. Anywhere.
I will say this for my VR set, though: the best thing going is Beat Sabre, which my family plays all the time now. Here’s a taste:
