Ya know, it sure would be nice to have some kind of trend, if the market wouldn’t mind too much. I mean, just look at the past couple of months. This is nothing short of ridiculous. For all the ups and downs, we’re at exactly the same price we were on November 19th. Six months of meandering with no destination.
Down, up, down, up, down, up. The past few days alone have been a microcosm of that. Tuesday, we were up big. Wednesday, it all went away. This morning, a bunch of that “up” is back again.
I feel a bit like I’m trying to get a campfire going. I’ve got my kindling together. I light the match. It starts to burn. It gets going some. And then the drizzle starts. Before long, the fire has been snuffed out. But then the rain stops and the sky is clear again. So I gather up some more kindling and light it. And clouds gather again.
The fire isn’t winning. Neither is the rain. It’s just a constant back-and-forth, with reality trying to bring the market down and central bankers trying to keep it propped up.
Exhausting, isn’t it? Or, at a minimum, really, really tiresome and boring.
