My Newest Book Is Finally Here

Well, it bloody well took long enough, but I finally have my newest book in my hot little hands. It’s 0213-paniccalled Panic, Prosperity, and Progress: Five Centuries of History and the Markets, and one of my dogs is modeling with my first author’s copy here. I am very proud of this book – in a sense, it’s the first “real” book (out of a couple dozen) that I’ve written, since it’s not about computers or ProphetCharts. I’ll probably be selling signed copies from the blog in the next couple fo weeks, or you can get an unmarred one from Amazon with the link above.

This Charming Man

1207-morIt probably comes as no surprise to long-time readers that Morrissey is a favorite singer/songwriter of mine. His hauntingly depressing music touches the souls, I imagine, of most bears. I was pleased to read in this morning’s Wall Street Journal (near an article titled, and I’m not making this up, “So You Want To Buy Your Own Vineyard”) that he has come up with his Autobiography Here’s a snippet, which strikes me as Pure Morrissey, as he speaks of his days as a schoolboy:

Its wearisome echo of negativity exhausts me to a permanent state of circumstantial sadness. I approach school each day with renewed fear, over the asphalt, treading underfoot, the flattened remains of people’s lives, and bigger and blacker the school’s edifice rises above its bludgeoned parish like a rat refusing to die. We small kids see no warm lights to welcome, and no hope in the literal darkness.” (more…)

Trading Like Tom and Tony

I recently received – and read – two books from a fellow who has been a Sloper, TastyTrader, and all around good guy for years: Tony Rihan. Tony has a special place in my heart, because he has historically kept me well-supplied with packages of chocolate that he has sent to me. More recently, though, he completed two self-published books – How I Learned to Trade like Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista: Book One, Trade Mechanics (Volume 1) and How I Learned to trade like Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista: Book Two. Advanced Strategies and Insights (Volume 2) (Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista are, by the way, the two most prominent hosts on the TastyTrade network, on which I have a daily segment). (more…)
