Slope of Hope Blog Posts

Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. Click on any category icon below to see posts tagged with that particular subject, or click on a word in the category cloud on the right side of the screen for more specific choices.

Virtual Signaling

Over the years, people have suggested many times that I reveal the traffic graph for Slope as a contrary indicator for the market. I think I’ve got a better idea. Looking at my own equity curve from the Top Ten Traders page, we can see I’ve lost over $5 million, a third of my account’s value. I’d like to suggest in times past these mega-plunges have been met in turn with explosions to a new high (in other words, a weak stock market). We shall see!

Stream a Little Stream

By -

As proud as I am of what we’ve created here on Slope, there was one aspect of the site which always caused me to look the other way and mumble incoherently: the streaming charts. The fastest they could go is updating every 5 seconds, and even that was kind of dicey. Well, we’ve reworked this from the ground up, and now we have true streaming charts for both equities as cryptocurrencies. In the Preferences dialog, you should see a new selection under the General tab for Streaming refresh, and I’d love you to give it a whirl. (We are updating the entitlements today so the old dropdown goes away and all paying members get streaming, but even now, I think any subscriber can access it).

NEW: Crypto Alerts

By -

Good news, crypto fans! Both the SlopeAlerts system and the Chart-Based Alerts include support for cryptocurrencies now! This means that, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we can monitor for any rules you have established for any particular crypto and let you know via email or text about any conditions which have been triggered. I’ve noticed some major crypto brokerages don’t even offer alerts anymore, so this is welcome news for some of you.
