A little while ago, I got an interesting email from a reader. With his permission, I am reprinting it here:
Dear Tim,
I’m curious about the state of mind in the permabear.
Some people make a big deal out of New Year Resolutions, and oftentimes, particularly in the United States, these resolutions focus on weight. I don’t bother with resolutions myself, but I wanted to once again tell everyone that going from a “sitting” desk to a “standing” desk a few years ago has made a huge difference for me.
Naturally, 99% of folks out there sit down at a desk, but having decided (out of the blue, really) one day to elevate my desk and sell my Aeron chair, I’d never go back. I don’t have back problems, and I am certain I would be 20 pounds heavier than I am right now if I didn’t stand up all day long.
