Financing Your Sausage

By -

I probably visit my local Whole Foods about two or three times a week. It isn’t a particularly large store, but it’s close to home and has what I need. I’m so familiar with it, I actually had an entire chapter in my novel that’s set there.

A couple of weeks ago, I just had to pick up a couple of items, so I went to a larger market called Cardenas in East Palo Alto, which is much more of a working-class store as opposed to the frou-frou Whole Foods. I was puzzled to see at the front an a poster advertising an app you could use to finance the groceries you were about to buy. I had never heard of such a thing, but it’s just representative of where our country is heading: scumbags like Bezos send their ho’s into space for eleven minutes, just for the hell of it, while common working people actually have to borrow money to get some food.
