Here’s where I’m typing this post. It’s a picture of my back yard for this week, as I have rented a house for my family on the tropical island of Moorea. I enjoy making observations about new places, so this is going to be one of those types of posts.
One of my favorite sites to read is Where’s Your Ed At?, which does deep-dives into sectors (like AI) or companies (like CoreWeave), often with a cynical angle. Ed does extraordinary research into his topics, and unlike Slope, which has a hundred rat-a-tat posts every week, Ed might come out with a few articles each month, tops. One of those that made a big impression on me back in March was the not-at-all subtly titled CoreWeave is a Tomb Bomb.
And, having rocketed into the modern world with flush toilets, India is now going to make our iPhones.
It’s been a wild morning so far, as illustrated neatly by the small cap /RTY futures. Good Lord!
Fifteen days ago, I was bracing myself for the surrender-to-China moment in the trade war. It was brutal, but I made it through intact. This morning I’m facing the same situation, but this time it’s surrender-to-EU instead. The rise isn’t as absolutely brutal, but at about 1.5% or so, it’s no walk in the park. All through the night, the US dollar has been gaining strength, which is in line with stronger equities.
