Moving Sucks!

I’m in North Carolina a few days this week, helping our youngest child get settled into her final year at school. My jaw dropped when I saw the mountains of stuff she had in her storage unit, and as I kept hoisting giant bag after giant bag out of the place, I was reminded of perhaps one of life’s most noble truths: moving sucks! Which is precisely why I bought a place way too big for myself when I was 26 and intend to die there!

So, here I am at Duke University, an absolutely lovely campus, getting my daughter all set for her senior year. A check for almost $50,000 just cleared for HALF the tuition this year. As I’m in the basement of the student center to help gather her packages, I witness this sign on the front of the Indigenous Student Alliance:

First, fuck you. And second, ya little prick, YOU are in an air-conditioned office that I am helping pay for to sit around and, I suppose, practice feeling victimized. Smoke on THIS peace pipe, pal.
