Leaving Las Vegas

By -

Well, this was a typical whirlwind tour for me. My day thus far was as follows:

1116.caeser3:30 a.m. to 4:15 a.m. Get up, get dressed, get ready

4:15 a.m. to 4:50 a.m. Drive to the airport

4:50 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Hang around at the airport

6:00 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Fly from Oakland to Las Vegas

7:15 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Be driven over to Caesar's

7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Get set up and make sure everything is in order

8:00 to 9:00 Give my talk ("What I've Learned from Eight Years of Financial Blogging")

9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Talk to folks

9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Do three video interviews

10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Do a book signing with Jon Wiley

10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Do a speedy tour of the TraderExpo show

11:00 a.m. Get the hell out of town and back to the airport, where I'm sitting now

I was very nervous about making it on time to my talk, and I thanked my lucky stars that everything went right. There's no doubt in my mind that the time to come into Vegas is first thing in the morning, because nobody, and I mean nobody, is up and about. I can't believe I went from Oakland to Caesar's Palace in the span of 90 minutes.

In any case, as enjoyable as this little three hour Vegas sojourn has been, it only takes one trip to the airport for me to remember how much I love the fact I don't go anywhere for my work. My homebody-ness is simply affirmed and strengthened.

As a reminder, this week is going to be on the quiet side here at Slope. I'll be skiiing; there's Thanksgiving; and we all have to mellow out and chillax and wait for the bulls to give us our amazing shorting opportunity at ~1400 on the S&P. The bulls have a job to do, and we need to give them room to do it and do it well.
