Here’s a map showing how big the economy of each of the 50 states is compared to a similarly equipped country. California, for instance, has about the same GDP as India (and with vastly cleaner air and water). As a Californian, it’s kind of amusing to me that by far the most populated and rich state out of all 50 is rendered meaningless in this election, whereas some punk-ass little burghs in a few flyover states control who wins the White House.
Not to worry. The Congo is cranking out TONS of new humans.
Two things strike me about this map of the battles of the Civil War. One, just how untouched the vast majority of the country was, and two, how strange some of the locations were for these battles (like way the hell up in Fargo country).
