A lot of people ask me where I get my trading ideas. The list of stocks I follow is relatively static, but the readers here are one fantastic source of ideas, and now and then I find a real gem.
MarketM posted a list of symbols yesterday, and I found a real beauty among them – SMG (yep, the folks that make plant food!)

Well, the gap from yesterday's explosive opening has been filled with today's lows. I've gone a bit nuts with $SPX puts at this point, establishing a six-figure position. If we can make another push lower on the SPY, below 124.99, it's time to par-tay.
Yesterday was far and away the biggest traffic day on the site.
Some may view this as a sign that the market has bottomed. I don't think so. I think the blog is simply starting to catch on, and the word is starting to spread.
Spread Slope Fever!
The descent of gold and oil is remarkable to behold. I've updated my fan lines on these charts, and in spite of owning puts on a variety of energy and gold issues, I am looking hard at these patterns in anticipation of newfound strength in the next day or two.
