Carnival Going to Sink

Carnival Corporation, which provides the invaluable service of letting fat Americans take a break from overeating on the land and spend some time overeating on the water, is sporting a pretty big bearish engulfing candlestick pattern today. I’ll be shorting it. As a totally random aside, I’ll mention I just finished watching United 93 for the first time, and it was excellent. For the sake of political correctness, I won’t go into my views on the “religion of peace”, but I think the movie is a valuable reminder as to divergent cultural values and American bravery. Starting (the) Weak

There’s a weak looking setup on ES coming into this week. There is some negative divergence on the 60min RSI, a possible rising channel from the last low with channel support currently in the 1688 area, and ES is testing the 50 hour MA in the 1700.75 area to see whether it will hold as support. As long as it does then bulls have the edge, but if ES breaks below the 50 HMA ten there is a possible short term double-top trigger level at 1696, and a target in the 1687 area on a break below that. I don’t think a significant high is in yet so if we do see an early retrace I’ll be looking for a good long entry. ES 60min chart: (more…)

Putting SlopeCharts Within Reach

Just a quick late Sunday night note to mention that SlopeCharts is easier to access. It’s bugged me a bit that SlopeCharts has been in a “silo”, accessible via a menu, Now the comment stream has a couple of hyperlinks which, if clicked, will fire up a new tab in your browser with SlopeCharts. If you want to put a SlopeChart into the comment stream, the easiest thing to do is stack it to SocialTrade (by clicking in the upper-right corner of the chart itself).
