Southern California experiences a “May gray, June gloom” weather effect. Up north in Cupertino, bearaAmerica’s favorite smartphone maker experiences a similar phenomenon with its stock price.

In the past ten years, AAPL closed beneath its June options expiration (OpEx) open (Mid-May to Mid-June) six out of ten times.

And when we focus on the past five years’ June OpEx periods, the bears won four out of those five times.

A major reason behind the bearishness is Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC), which is almost always held in June.

Since 2005, AAPL closed every week red except one (11-1 to the bears), and that was 2014 when the 7-for-1 stock split took place shortly after the WWDC. (more…)

Are You Still Fearful of Cryptos?

Since leaving my job as a corporate design manager to analyze and trade cryptos (among other things), I’ve gained new attention from old colleagues. In circles of my former profession, I’m the guy that retired to trade for a living. While my departure from corporate life was something I planned for many years, cryptos certainly gave those plans a shot in the arm.

Regardless of how it came about, my early ‘retirement’ carries some lore; ‘He must have made millions on Bitcoin’ I’m sure some say. (more…)

Buttons for Corduroy

I am very pleased to let you know of a couple of important cosmetic improvements to Slope.

On the home page, we have always had a scrolling marquee showing the most recent blog posts. The trouble until now has been that it would just give the date of each post……….which, considering how I publish five to seven posts every single day, isn’t very helpful when you’re trying to decide what the most recent one is.

Now we’ve changed it so it shows the age of each post. It’s therefore extremely obvious what is newest.
