My family is populated with animal lovers. Thus, when my son was about to head home from work last night, he sent me a photo of a large juvenile bird that was staring into his office.

My son said the bird seemed confused and was just wandering around. I finally relented and drove to Tesla and join him. Although it’s warm, I put on a thick leather jacket, gloves, and gently placed him in an animal carrier.
Let me say two things at this point. First, I don’t know the first thing about birds, so I did not go about this an expert. Second, I am not inclined to simply pluck animals out of nature and bring them home, since I know that’s not – – well – – natural. But it was clear this bird was very confused (maybe he flew into a window? Maybe lost its mother?) and needed help.

So we’ve brought him home, and he’s nestled in a big box in the garage with cedar shavings. We’ve been giving him water via a straw, and although I’ve offered him tidbits of meat, he hasn’t taken any yet. He’s a cute little devil, but staring into the eyes of a bird of prey, you know these things don’t mess around.
I think it’s maybe a juvenile raptor. I intend to get him (or her!) into the hands of animal services soon, but I’m attached to the little bugger for the moment. Anyone out there have any suggestions or at least an idea what the newest member of my household is?
