For better or worse (probably worse), I had never paid attention to Novo Nordisk in my life. Recently, however, this company has soared in value by hundreds of percent, largely because of all the breathless press about Ozempic, which is an injection for Type 2 Diabetes. From what I’ve read, the web’s “influencers” have made it clear to the people of Earth that this is also an effortless way to lose lots of weight.
Recalling my post yesterday evening about how crypto’s huge rise yesterday was “a one-hit wonder”, that seems to have panned out nicely. What hasn’t panned out (yet) is for equities to follow along. Give it another day or two, m’kay?
I am rather obsessively watching XLU, because it is by far my biggest position, and the one in which I have the most faith. The dirty little trick this ETF is playing these days is that, each morning, pretty much without fail, it goes zipping higher and freaking me out. Then, just as reliably, it burns off all those gains.
Even though it’s hard for me to imagine some kind of “shock event” from the pre-open jobs report this Friday, I look forward to seeing how the market – – particularly the bond market – – reacts. The reason is that, in spite of the recent rally lately, the bond market (represented below by way of TLT) is still sporting a very good right triangle reversal pattern, and provided we stay beneath that horizontal line, it stands every good chance of more serious diminishment in price.
